ABOUT METALDAYS

MetalDays Festival is a unique music event; since 2013, over 12.000 metalheads from more than 70 different countries from all over the world come to one place - MetalDays festival. Located in Slovenia, at Lake Velenje, the festival offers the best of both worlds : amazing nature and welcoming surroundings, joined with the best artists and bands that the metal genre has to offer. MetalDays is one of the central metal events in this part of Europe, attracting a massive international audience of thousands of fans from Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, France, Spain, the Mediterranean countries, and Slovenia. This is, among other things, due to the carefully crafted conjunction of a musical experience with a tourist one.

The festival takes place at Lake Velenje, and merges the unique concept of metal music event with festival holidays, the concept which was invented and pioneered by MetalDays festival since its beginning. Its programme represents a wide variety of genres and sub-genres of metal with the addition of hardcore influenced styles in the whole week gathering of bands performing on 5 festival stages. Friendly and absolutely relaxed atmosphere, perfect for you to just forget about all worries and enjoy your most likely best holiday ever! You will never regret visiting us!

We are so very proud that the MetalDays festival has attained an Improvers Award in the Greener Festival Awards in 2016 & 2017 and Commended Award in the Greener Festival Awards in 2018 and 2019, which makes it 4 years in a row!

Small steps lead to a great journey! We are so very proud, that our small steps and improvements in ecology and sustainability direction are showing to be the right ones and that they do have an impact. We have made so many little steps, that we have already stopped counting them. But - just a reminder of a few of them: a few years ago we started to supply every visitor with biodegradable tent pegs, last year we replaced all the plastic cups, spoons, forks, plates, etc. with biodegradable ones, and our toilet papers and napkins are made of recycled and organic materials, we have run clean and drinkable water thru the festival area, that allows our festival visitors to refill their bottles at all times (yes, there is no need for plastic water bottles from the shop), we have installed a new sewage and drainage system, that will reduce the number of plastic chemical toilets used at the festival area, we are the pioneers and have invented so-called "garbage deposit" that motivate every visitor to clean up his/her own thrash, we replaced 50% of meat and dairy food with vegan food, and so many more... Of course all of this little steps towards our Green journey to reduce the environmental impact of our festival would not be possible without you, our dear visitors.

Therefore we would like to encourage you, even more, to help us and cooperate with us in our green journey endeavors.

MetalDays Festival is a member of YouRope

Health, safety, and environmental protection – are some of the goals of YOUROPE. In collaboration with its members, the festival organization wants to raise the standards in the festival business, for example by educating its members in workshops and seminars or by rewarding environmentally friendly festivals with the “Green’n’Clean Award”.

Since environmental protection and high standards have always been a matter of the heart to all of us, we are very proud to be a part of YOUROPE and to support their project.
Together with the association and its other members, we want to install common guidelines for festivals in Europe and boost the communication between the participating festivals. Our highest priority, however, is to ensure your health and safety at the METALDAYS festival and for that matter, we rely on the useful information and training provided by YOUROPE.

All in all, we are working together to make sure that you, our loyal fans, can experience the METALDAYS festival in the best conditions and with further raised standards.

Environmental issues and global ecology awareness are just some of the matters of the heart to us; therefore we are very proud that we have reached another step towards our eco-festival-mission: in the year 2015, MetalDays festival became a member of Elko Iniciativa.

In organising the MetalDays festival, we are trying to work as much as possible in ecologically acceptable ways and in accordance with ecological guidelines; our waste is being separated, we are using ecological toilet paper and towels wherever possible, and our tent pegs are made of bio-degradable materials that are environmentally acceptable and we will continue to improve our ecological mission also in the future.

We are very happy and proud, that all our demanding goals are being reached with the great help of you, our visitors and we are certain, you will help us with your eco-awareness also in the future.
